I believe there is beauty in all color at all times. It is the task of the artist to work with available materials to create harmony and mood or capture a feeling.  I try to remain open to the beauty of the color found in discarded scraps of material (glass, fabric, etc.) or rejected paints and glazes to create designs that move the viewer.  I believe artistic rules exist to be broken and but that knowledge of the techniques of previous masters can enable an artist to better utilize available materials to reach their goals.

My art is executed in multiple mediums including oil paintings, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, glass sculptures, pieced fabric and murals.  I love to gather items that others may have discarded such as bits of glass leftover from the construction of a stained glass window, latex paints someone else didn’t want or scraps of fabrics.  I love to then re-use these items to create beautiful works of art.  In addition to these recycled items, it can be lovely to indulge in the luxury of using brand new artist’s materials an mix and blend the colors.

My works are a reflection of my life and incorporate themes common to many people: the peace of a sunset, the glow of candlelight, the simplicity of a flower.  Abstract works capture the feelings of life: excitement, tranquility, confusion.  Experience is translated into art, sometimes well defined and easy to understand, sometimes abstract and open to interpretation by the viewer.

Originally a California native, I now live in Louisiana.  I’ve traveled the world and enjoyed many unique experiences.  I’ve enjoyed success in the world of business, as an artist, in my marriage and as a mother.  With each year that passes, I am getting to know myself better and my art is an extension of that process.
